The mystery of
the house atop the Back Bay building is already [mostly] solved! My brother did some pretty seriously sleuthing today to find me some answers. 219 Columbus Ave (aka the Albert A. Pope Building that has the delicious Mistral Restaurant on the ground level) is a project of real estate developer and Columbus Hospitality Group partner
Paul Roiff. We first thought Seth Greenberg (also a partner) might have been the owner, but after some further research, Paul Roiff seems to be the owner of the elusive #800 condominium on the roof. I am told there are four 7th floor units (which all seem to be the penthouse level?), each with a private deck and what-do-you-know, but unit #703 seems to be for sale for a cool $2.2 million. The
profile for it says there's a private and public deck - so perhaps it is split into 4 units with #800 being the best? Here are pictures of unit #703:
(Welcome)
So, the trail ends at Paul Roiff. And I enjoyed the journey. I think urban planning and architecture design is so interesting and I would love to sit and have a glass of wine with Mr. Roiff to see how the world occurs to him. I'm sure he is quite fascinating. The only reason I said this mystery was "mostly" solved was because I just now need to figure out how to get inside to check it out for myself... I will report back if I ever meet any of the four condominium owners!
