more small space love

I've really fallen in love with small spaces and the challenge to make them just right.  Apartment Therapy seems to share this love, as they've posted some stellar pics of small spaces over the past couple of months.  Here are some favorites to inspire - sometimes it's ok to think little.

 (great headboard/storage/divider)

(nice peek-a-boo office with a whole lotta storage)

(don't you love this makeshift living room in the hallway?  feels like a chic hotel room)

(great little set up in a very small nyc apt)

(another great small working space in an awkward corner)

(love the bookcase behind the bed and the innovative use of space)

(who need a kitchen table?  I spy an awesome ikea bar that works and looks great)

yarn bombers

I've been itching to pick up knitting needles again and I love this article about gals in the South End "yarn bombing."  These graffiti knitters work includes wrapping colorful rectangles of knitting around lampposts, hanging mittens from trees, snaking a knit flower vine around a bike rack and tagging a dog park fence with knitted bugs.  I just make scarves.  Read more here.

possibilities for 2011

I haven't taken as much opportunity to do some critical thinking about my 2011.  Oh, I've done a bit, but it's not quite done yet...hopefully I'll be able to fully envision it after the weekend.  Right now, the short strokes, without getting too much into it, are: be as bold as I was at 19, be as tenacious as I was at 22 and see possibility as clearly as I could at 23.

But wouldn't it be lovely to write down everything you want in the year on tags and turn your Christmas tree into a Possibility Tree?  It's my own take on Yoko Ono's Wish Tree.  Read more about it here.

change of space

This couple turned a gymnasium in Beacon, NY into their dream home.  Read all about it over at Ready Made and dream all about their creativity as you gush over the photos.

cover rooms

We're busy busy developing new shows, one of which is for HGTV.  I was able to actually use my love of great design, inspiration & ideas to pull some images I like for inspiration for some materials.  These rooms have texture, depth and life.  Love 'em.

natural reflection

The fall colors are pretty much gone - how did that happen so quickly?  While the days seem incredibly short (is it me, or did it seem like it was dark at 3pm?), that's no reason to get down.  I find this time of year to be a perfect time for reflection - what do I want next year to look like?  Am I being the person I think I'm being?  How might I like to reinvent myself?  I don't feel depressed - I feel like I have the space to create since life seems to naturally slow down when the weather gets cold.

I got into a car accident a week ago and my current reflection on that is that I need to slow down, be less reckless and relax - message received, God.  We'll see what else I come up with over the next two months.

devil in details.

Just purchased an antique stamp set from nothing elegant on Etsy.  This is a first attempt at being more crafty and being the devil in details, hoping it welcomes new ideas and creativity everyday.  My roommate laughed at me.
